A man of many names, Ex-Legionnaire 1384 was a pseudonym of David Harvey John Jones who also wrote under the names of John Henry Harvey, Operator 1384 and John Barrington. Harvey (or whatever he real name was) was an Englishman who joined and then deserted the French Foreign Legion in Syria in 1926. He wrote several books about his time serving with some being more fictionalized than others.
