First edition, first (?) printing with 1926 on title and copyright page along with Scribner's seal, and no battered type at page 38 lines 6-9, page 248 lines 21-24, or for the pagination of page 90. More of these areas had battered type as the printings continued but it was not clear to Bruccoli when exactly in the printing series they occurred. Closed tear to 248-9. Previous owner's bookplate and stamp on front free endpaper. A couple of stains to the front cover. Rear gutter starting but holding. Some soiling to pages 5-12. Good+. Item #89522
