Two volume set. 26 x 20 cm. lxxv309pp, vi 333pp. Bound into dark blue cloth with gilt spine lettering. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece in volume one, 12 reproductions of title pages from earlier editions and other illustrations as well as a contemporary plan of the City of Naples. Talbes, bibliographical information, index. English translation of Lo Cunto de li Cunti, or Il Pentamerone (1634) and written in the "archaic and difficult local dialect - Neapolitan". Italian fairy tails. Spine a bit sun toned. Corners are a bit bumped and there is some rubbing to the edges of the cloth. Faint glue residue from where a book plate came out on the front fixed endpapers of both volumes and a pen mark on that page.
