Blind stamp back cover reads (translated from the Russia) [Photo Profile of V. A. Cherepanov in Arkhangelsk]. No date noted but an inscription inside back cover reads: "A. Dum Gardner from H. H. T. 'Minerva' Solovetsky July 15th 1895". A photobook featuring 18 pasted-down photographs of interior and exterior views Solovetsky Monastery in the White Sea, possibly taken by Yakov Ivanovich Leitsinger. The photographs have the captions printed in red in Russia which have been translated into English in pencil next to them. Two photos are double page panoramas. The pages look wavy when looking edge down; not obvious when looking at the plates face-on. Nice photographs, rare work of the monastery before the island was turned into a Gulag by the Bolsheviks.
