Vol 1: xviii [2] 530 [2] xcvi + 8 plates, Vol 2: xi [1] 534pp+ 8 plates, Vol 3: xiii [3] 640pp + 11/12 plates (lacking plate 11), Vol 4: xvi 589 [1 ad] pp + 9 plates, Vol 5: [10] lxxxvi [1] 622 [6 ads]pp + 8 plates, Vol 6: [12] cv [3] 688pp + 10 plates. The final volume is the plates volume which reproduces all 55 plates (including the plate missing from volume 3). Uniformly bound into green, blind stamped cloth, gilt spine lettering. First edition set, with volume 1 being published in 1828 by John Murray and the remaining volumes 5 by Thomas & William Boone in 1829, 1831, 1834, 1836, and 1840 respectively. The plates volume has no title page and was necessarily published after volume 6. In volume 3. the gutter is cracked at the errata page. Other volumes with tight, square bindings. Some scattered foxing with foxing present to varying degrees on most of the plates. Nice set overall. Very Good. Item #77497

Provenance: There is a small bookplate for Elphinstone Carberry Tower on the front paste-down of each volume. Opposite that is a label identifying it as part of the Carberry Tower Servants' Library with a description of the lending process. No other library markings. In the plates volume a name is written several times, dated 1844.
