Some soiling to the boards. Fading to the spine. Scarce work on American Civil War medicine. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper and a small note in the same hand on the last page of the appendix. Tripler was a Brigidier General and surgeon in the US army. He served in the Second Seminole War, Mexico campaign and Panama campaign, and was Medical Director of the Army of the Potomac in 1861. This work standarized many of the American army's medical practices including administration, hygiene, and surgery. Material from this book was taken from lectures Tripler gave at the Medical College of Ohio. Blackman was a Professor of Surgery there and helped organize the lectures into book form. Very Good.
