"On the evening of June 15, 1920, a mob of between 5000-10,000 people stormed the Duluth, Minnesota jail and lynched 3 of 6 blacks held there for investigation of the rape of a nineteen-year-old white girl. Most of the records of the lynching and subsequent investigation and trails have been lost or destroyed. The people involved, and their descendents, have remained quiet about the activities of that evening."
