Approximately 1/3 of the front outer hinge is cracked, binding is still tight. Foxing throughout the work. Previous owners' names written on front free and fixed endpaper. Originally published in 1833 by James Ridgway, this reprint was issued without the images present in the first and looks similar to the 1833 edition by Key & Biddle, viewable on google books. Rare work. 3 copies of the Ridgway edition in worldcat, none of this edition. Good. Item #60892

Fairholme was a critic of Charles Lyell and the new theories of geology because they were in his view inconsistent with scripture and scientific fact. He was a proponent of young earth creationism and of the biblical flood being responsible for the current geology of the earth.
