The spines of both volumes are faded to brown. Rubbing along the edges of the spine. Rubbing to the bottom edges of the boards, more so on volume 1 than 2. Interesting inscription inside front cover of volume 1 dated 1856: "To / Francis Drake Thomson / First Math Class / First Prize / H. Newport / Headmaster". Darkening to endpapers and inside front and back covers of both volumes. Front gutters are partially cracked but still intact. Some light toning to the edges of plates III and IV.
