Fodor originally embraced paranormal phenomena but by the 1940's he advocated a more psychoanalytic approach to psychic phenomena. This was his magnum opus taking several years to research and publish. From the introduction: "Psychic science embraces both psychical research and psiritualism. The facts championed by the spiritualist differ but in their interpretation from those we meet in psychical research. Basically they are the same, though in spiritualistic experience they steep deeper into the marvellous. To the facts of psychical research, by the exercise of great care, I added, from books and periodicals, many strange accounts which seem to rest on good authority though, from the experimental viewpoint, wanting in evidential value. For only by so doing could I hope to illuminate the full domain of this coming science." Good. Item #50733
